Being Seussical
I am not sure when I read my first Dr. Seuss Book. It was probably read to me. What I do know, was that I had all his books (even the banned ones of late).
I’ve always appreciated his humour, cleverness, playful use of words, drawings and characters.
I even had one of his characters tattooed on my body in my 30th year (that is a different blog my love tattoos and views on them).
He has been a touchstone for me. Regardless of where I am in life, whatever I am feeling, I can always find a Dr. Seuss book or quote that inspires me and describes how I feel.
He provides life lessons, validation, or reminder of being on your own unique path.
He is my philosopher and has gotten me to the ripe age of 54 with confidence and assurance that I do not need to conform to anyone else other than myself.
Every year I read Oh, the places you’ll go and I never tire of its life lessons of this incredible journey of life we are all on.
One of my most cherished gifts is a book my daughters gave me on my 50th birthday. They recreated Oh, the places you’ll go and renamed it: Oh, the Places You’ve been – filled was witty Seussical rhymes about my first 50 years of life.
